*several helicopters land outside of a large concentration camp*
*the doors are opened by the HAMMER agents piloting them*
*it's late at night, past midnight*

Layla: *slowly wakes up* "..."
Agent: "Up and at 'em, Muties!"
Layla: *puts her hand on her neck and feels the power inhibitor* *remains seated on the floor*
Mary: *lays unconscious next to her*
Agent: "C'mon! UP!" *grabs Layla and forcefully brings her to her feet* "You too!" *shakes Mary*
Mary: *slowly comes to* "Ugh... Major hangover..."
Agent: "Did I say you could SPEAK, Mutie?"
Mary: "...I'm sorry. WHAT did you just call me?"
Agent: *backhands Mary*
Mary: "Why you...!" *tries to set him on fire* *realizes that she has a power inhibitor around her neck* (muttering) "...Crap."
Agent: *forces the two of them out of the helicopter* *puts a gun to their backs*
Mary (whispering): "...Boss, where are we?"
Layla: *looks down* "..."
Agent: "Do you WANT me to fire this thing at ya?!"
Mary: *becomes frustrated* "..."

*they're led to a line full of other mutants in front of a building with a sign that reads "Processing"*
*screams are heard from within*

~ Woods Behind the Xavier Institute ~

Hepzibah: *her ears and nose twitch* "...They not coming back for us. We safe... for now."
Monet: "Way to state the obvious, Kitty Cat..."
Hepzibah: *hisses* "You always this rude?!"

~ Washington DC ~

Mrs. Minoru: "So... this is our first meeting. As Osborn's... 'Cabinet'?"
Osborn: *walks in* "Cabal, Minoru. Cabal. That's what I've decided to call you."
Mystique (as Adrienne): "..."

Nico: *wakes up in a lavishly-decorated room* "..." *places her hand on her chest* *it feels like something's missing* *walks up to the door and tries to open it* *it's locked* "Great..."

Osborn: "Welcome, my friends... This is the big time."

*it's Layla's turn to enter the Processing building*

Layla: *walks in*
*an Agent sits at a desk*
*beside him is another Agent and a metal detector-like device*
Table Agent: "Name?"
Layla: "Layla Miller."
Table Agent: "Powers?"
Layla: "..."
Table Agent: "Powers?!"
Layla: "...My signal goes in and out."
Table Agent: "Meaning...?"
Layla: "I'm a sometimes-detectable mutant."
Table Agent: *rolls his eyes* "Go through the detector."
Layla: *walks through*
Detector Agent: "Says she ain't a Mutie."
Table Agent: "...Proceed through to the next room. The left one. That's the one for girls."
Layla: *walks to the next room*

*showers line the walls*
Agent: "Strip down."
Layla: "..." *does as she's told and is forced to take a shower*
Agent 2: *hands Layla some rags to put on*
Layla: *silently dresses in the rags*
Agent 2: "Proceed to the next room."
Layla: *goes into the next room*

*there are dozens of mutants in the room, each one is strapped to a chair with a HAMMER agent next to them*
*several of them are screaming in pain*

Agent: "This way." *holds a gun to her back* *forces Layla over to a free chair* "Take a seat."
Layla: *does as she's told* *the chair automatically straps her down*
Agent: *walks away*
Chair Agent: "...I'm not going to lie, Freak... This will hurt. Like hell. For hours to come." *preps a needle and a... you know... that thing they use when they give you a tattoo* "I won't think any less of you if you cry for mommy and daddy."
Layla: "Won't have to. They're dead."
Chair Agent: "Not my problem. Now, hold still." *applies the tattoo thing to Layla's face, directly over her right eye*
Layla: *remains silent and motionless throughout the procedure*
Chair Agent: "Heh. Tough girl." *holds up a mirror* "Ta-da." *she has an "M" over her right eye* "Get outta here."
Layla: *the chair removes the straps* *walks out of the room*
