Okay, just clarifying everything (well... almost everything) about Sirens. Background info:
Sirens are magical creatures. It is unknown just HOW they were created, but they first began to pop up in Greece around Homer's time, and a few of the earliest Sirens were encountered by Odysseus and his crew in "The Odyssey". While most magical creatures were banished from the Earth and sent to Elsewhere after a series of wars between humans and magical creatures, the Sirens - as well as several other races - were spared, due to the fact that they betrayed their more monstrous brothers and sisters in favor of the humans towards the end of the final war.
Characteristics:
Sirens are a female-only race, and they require cross-breeding with other species - most of the time humans - in order to reproduce. If a Siren's offspring were to be male, then they would be of the race that the Siren reproduced with and not a Siren in any way, shape, or form.
All Sirens - no matter what race they are cross-bred from - are all extremely beautiful, with pale skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes. They are eternally youthful and have a very high metabolism, so they don't have to worry about gaining weight.
Sirens CAN live forever. Their organs and bodies will never fail them, they will never physically age past 23, and they are immune to essentially every disease, including sexually-transmitted ones. (Which is why Cat claims to have every single STD but never actually shows any signs of having any STD.) However, Sirens lack a large supply of platelets in their blood stream, causing them to clot and for their wounds to heal very slowly. Due to this, they can die from blood loss. Most Sirens carry vials of Amazon blood with them in order to avoid such occurrences. They are also extremely vulnerable to magic.
Generally, Sirens are very selfish creatures, only caring for themselves and their close relatives and friends. Every once in awhile, though, a caring and gentle Siren is born.
Sirens have extremely beautiful singing voices.
Powers and abilities:
When Sirens are born, they have no abnormal powers or abilities and are indistinguishable from human children except for the fact that - even as babies - they are extremely beautiful individuals.
Once Sirens reach puberty, their sonic screams and hypnotic voices develop. They also become capable of flight.
It is not until Sirens reach physical maturity - at age 23 - that they are able to utilize their retractable talons. These talons are razor sharp and are the only things capable of tearing through an Amazon's flesh. They also imbue Sirens with increased strength and speed. Generally, the talons only appear in times of some sort of stress, but a Siren is capable of learning how to use her talons willingly.

"A story has to be finished, and no matter how distracted you get, you need to force yourself to forge ahead, word by word. If your idea is boring though, and that's why you're easy to distract...well, that's a really fantastic reason for not being able to focus on the task at hand! In that case, head back to the drawing board. And again, don't give up!"- Marjorie Liu, NYX: No Way Home interview
"Really? That's INANE. Most people in life don't HAVE great power, and the few that do are almost NEVER responsible with it. The people who have the greatest responsibility are the kids with NO POWER because we're the ones who have to keep everybody else in check."- Gertrude Yorkes, Runaways (vol. 2) #11
sweet i love mythology, so i sense a trend change coming here lol
